Children and Youth Formation Catechist

Teachers or Catechists provide religious formation in all of our Faith Formation Programs. CHILDREN AND MIDDLE SCHOOL participate in classes according to their school grade level (See Faith Formation 2012-2013 Faith Formation Calendar for schedule).  There is a Spanish language group in addition to the English classes.  For more information, contact Rebeccah Pelle. High School Catechists meet with teens monthly, and assist in facilitation of two retreats (See Faith Formation- Youth, 2012-2013 Calendar for schedule).  For information regarding teen ministry, contact Jen Owens.  Teachers share instruction to provide coverage in case of absences. Materials and training are provided .

Parent Discussion Group

While children and youth meet for faith formation in the Parish Center on Sunday morning, their parents and other adults meet in the cafeteria for education, formation and conversation, usually during the Fall, and Lent when the Small Faith-Sharing Groups are meeting. Topics vary, but their purpose is to support parents, not only as they teach their children about the Faith, but also for their own growth. Visiting parents and other family members are always welcome. Contact: Rebeccah Pelle.

Children, Youth, Family Formation Program

This program meet three Sundays per month, from September to Palm Sunday. Children are grouped by grades 1st & 2nd (first Eucharist), 3rd, 4th and 5th (first reconciliation), 6th–12th (social concerns, service, liturgy), (See Parish Community Ministries for corresponding parent group). Groups are designed to teach Catholic tradition and practice, scripture, prayer/worship, doctrine, service & community to members of all ages. Faith is connected with worship and centered in the Gospel. Time Commitment: 60 minutes on Sunday mornings and 9:15-10:20 a.m. in the parish center. Contact: Karen Miller.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLW)

Each Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. liturgy, children aged preschool to 2nd or 3rd grade are dismissed following the opening prayer. They meet with adult presiders for their own Liturgy of the Word. Children hear the Gospel, participate in liturgical ministries such as reading or singing, discussing the meaning of the scriptures, and engaging in a craft, game or activity that teaches the message of that day’s Gospel. They return for Liturgy of the Eucharist. Older children often attend to help out. Time Commitment: 30 minutes of set up before Mass and 30 minutes during Mass with clean-up following.
