SCC - Small Christian Community
Twice a year, in the Fall and during Lent, St. Augustine offers materials and organization for parishioners and their friends to gather in small groups. Materials are written by the pastor and staff members, with the particular needs of St. Augustine im mind. The groups are 8-12 in number, and meet at all times of the week, depending on the availability of the members. Homilies are focused on the topics discussed in the groups, since the group materials are based on the Lectionary readings. Prayer, music, silence, discussion, and refreshments are always part of the meeting experience. Of our roughly fourteen groups, many meet between the formal sessions with materials that they have chosen, or that have been provided by the parish. There are men’s groups, women’s groups, Spanish language group, young family groups that bring their children, young adult groups, and other kings of gatherings. Some groups engage in service projects together, or attend Mass together and share food after Mass is done. For more information about the groups please contact Karen Miller, coordinator.
